Curves = Ridiculous

A long time ago, someone told me that Curves Gym is a pro-life organization, and that much of their profits go to anti-choice causes. And I easily accepted this, because it takes no effort on my part to boycott a women's gym.

But I recently investigated the matter further and confirmed suspicions. Curves is the largest fitness chain in the world, and the fastest-growing franchise of all time. They contribute an estimated 10% of their profits to anti-choice organizations.

The founder of Curves, Gary Heavin, found god while in prison for failure to pay child support. Failure to pay child support! So this is a guy who cares little enough about his own kids that he's willing to go to prison to not support them, but who wants to impose unwanted children on everyone else!

So, ladies, if you value your right to choose whether or not to have a child so that the father can maybe fail to pay child support, I recommend not pumping iron at Curves. Or at least join Curvers for Choice, a group who apparently does not understand how boycotts work.

Bonus factoid: Before franchising, this gym that now markets itself as a feminist utopia ("no mirrors, no make-up, no men") was closed Sundays and hadrestricted hours because Heavin believed "women should be at home at certain times with their families. "

Graphic depiction of what I imagine goes on at Curves Gym.
Warning: Not for the faint of heart.
